In 1995 Erin traveled to Nepal to study with a Tibetan Buddhist master,  His Eminence Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. While staying at his nunnery, she made friends with many of the women who lived there. In the mornings Erin would do her yoga and tai chi practice in the grassy lawn in front of the little building in which she was staying. One beautiful fifteen-year-old nun, a Tibetan refugee named Yeshe Wongmo, would often join her and copy her movements, and they enjoyed their yoga practice side by side for several days. She spoke little English, and Erin spoke even less Tibetan, but they managed to communicate. One morning Erin asked her why she liked to come do yoga with her. And her succinct answer in English was so beautiful it brought tears to Erin's eyes.  "Body happy!" she enthusiastically exclaimed, as if it were the most obvious response.  The wisdom in her simple explanation is sweet and profound and has been inspiring ever since the words escaped her lips. A happy body is a blessing - and provides a powerful foundation for living a full and satisfying human life. Our work as teachers of somatic education is oriented in part toward this cultivation of a body that is happy. Is your body happy?  May it be so!
